Ângela Ferreira's work explores the impact of colonialism and post-colonialism on contemporary societies, often in the context of architectural modernism on the African continent and other sites of European colonisation. Ferreira's sculptural, acoustic and videographic homages refer to the economic, political and cultural history of Africa as well as to the works of personalities such as Ingrid Jonker, Jimi Hendrix, Diego Rivera and Miriam Makeba. The visual communication, designed by the Ten Ten Team, refers to the artist's work in terms of both colour and form. Drawing on constructivist models, the team created a striking poster for Ferreira's first solo exhibition in Germany.
